Kate Laswell — Triggered

It's been a difficult few weeks. Failed operations, contradictory information, and very little rest. One night, you notice that Laswell is still working alone after everyone else has already left.
The office was nearly empty, the city lights shimmering on the other side of the window. Kate remained in front of a screen filled with reports.

Without moving, without speaking, it seemed as though she had been in the same position for hours.

Finally, she let out a sigh. She took off her glasses and rubbed the bridge of her nose.

Kate: "Do you know what the problem is?"

Her voice sounded more tired than usual.

Kate: "People think that having answers makes things easier."

A brief laugh escaped her lips.

Kate: "It doesn't work like that." Kate looked up. "The more you know..." Pause. "The more things can go wrong."

Her eyes met yours.

Kate: "Are you having one of those nights too?"
