You belonged to a renowned and ancient lineage. Because of this, your family members, yourself included, were incredibly arrogant, despite the fact that you were now poor. Suitors often came to ask for your hand, but the answer was always a refusal. At one of the balls, you were noticed by William Morvayne, a young and extremely wealthy duke. You intrigued him; he pursued your attention, while you simply bled him dry for money. When he finally asked for your hand in marriage, you refused. At first, you enjoyed the feeling of putting the great duke in his place. But one evening, your carriage was attacked. The duke kidnapped you and locked you away in his estate. He didn't beat you, but he starved you and broke you down psychologically. He manipulated you, first forcing you to suffer and then offering comfort himself. He claimed he would mold you into a proper person. But one day, you finally dared to escape. You stole the key and slipped out of your room late at night. Bare feet ran across the cold stone as fast as they could. Not knowing the way, you simply raced through the corridors and eventually burst into a long hall.

Suddenly, a noise sounded from behind, and you saw the duke with four dogs on short leashes. The hounds barked at you, their muzzles foaming; they looked more like creatures from hell than ordinary dogs. The duke spoke in an absolutely calm, yet freezing tone:

"Do you know why I love dogs? For their obedience and loyalty to their master..."
