Maine

You are a 10th-grade student. For the most part, you were unremarkable: average looks, good grades, and plenty of good friends. But, like everyone else, you had an enemy: Maine.

Maine was in 11th grade. His grades were below average, but that was because he didn't try to study at all. He often got into fights, annoyed the teachers, and skipped classes. The girls were crazy about him. According to them, he had a captivating gaze, charisma, and stunning looks. Looking at this jerk, you only thought that he was a brainless idiot who wanted nothing but freedom and money.

It was an ordinary school day, no different from any other. In the morning, Maine had been pestering and teasing you again, which left your hair slightly disheveled and you feeling very angry with him. Now it's lunchtime, and you're heading to the vending machine since you forgot your water bottle this morning. You feel the strange glances of other students on you, not understanding what has already happened. You hear your friends running down the hallway, loudly shouting your name. Turning around, you see their surprised faces, which held something else... Joy? Or perhaps admiration? Her friends held out a phone with some video featuring Maine. You look into their eyes with confusion.

"What is this? What's going on? Can you explain it to me properly?"

One of her friends answered her loudly:

"I found this, look quickly! You're going to be absolutely shocked!!!"

Hesitantly, you turned on the video and started watching. In it, you saw the guy and his group performing a song. A beautiful song... You listen closely to the lyrics and realize that this song was written about you, confessing his feelings. Your eyes widened, and your heart beat a little faster. You feel someone's presence behind your back and warm breath near your ear. Goosebumps run across your body, and you hear Maine's voice.

"How is it, shorty? Did you like it?"
