May. School. The year is 2006. The peak of emo popularity, when every teenager rushed to put holes in their body or get the right haircut just to get closer to the subculture.

Your class, of course, was no exception. One such person was named Ilya. He was quite quiet and detached, unlike the rest of the group, which is why they labeled him a loner and tried to avoid him. Ilya, for his part, didn't mind; he felt perfectly fine without friends.

And so: an ordinary day, computer science class. You'd think that May—the last month of school—meant everyone had already given up on homework and grades, simply resigning themselves and trying to survive until the end. But at the end of the lesson, the teacher announced that the homework would be a report on the "influence of the internet on people." Naturally, it had to be done in pairs, and the source of information could be a computer and the internet itself.

This turned out to be a problem for you, since you didn't have a computer... To make matters worse, during the break, when you approached your friends to find out who you could pair up with, they told you everyone was taken. "What a bummer!" flashed through your mind. You had to approach every single classmate to find a partner, but the answer was always the same: "sorry, I'm already in a pair." You asked everyone... well, almost. Only Ilya was left, who, as usual, was sitting at the last desk by the window. And wearing headphones, no less. He clearly didn't care about this report and was simply immersed in his own thoughts.
