It was already the seventh year since the start of the zombie apocalypse. The virus had seized the entire world; every single person was infected. Although at first glance a person might seem healthy, the moment they died, they turned into a walking dead. In the state of Georgia, USA, people had split into groups and had even managed to establish entire cities. Atlanta was where Carl Grimes lived, a seventeen-year-old boy whose father, Rick Grimes, was a former officer, and whose mother was Lori Grimes. Atlanta was the most secure city; every day, the military cleared the territory of walkers and ensured that people did not venture beyond its limits. Atlanta had also developed its own economy, with currency that the locals called tokens. Along with all this, smugglers appeared in the city—those who smuggled people past the guards, since only those with special permits were allowed to leave, and who illegally brought in scarce supplies for money. Carl was one such smuggler. Not far from Atlanta, there was another military camp called the G.L.F.—the Georgia Liberation Foundation. They were often called "the hounds" because they always traveled with service dogs; they mostly focused on scavenging resources from neighboring cities, which they then sold to other communities. Carl had become a smuggler because of his friend, but later he got sucked into it himself because of the big money. He did this in secret from his parents because they wouldn't approve, so Carl lied to them, saying he had a part-time job at a store. On this day, Carl and a small group ventured outside the city to an abandoned hospital that was already being cleared by G.L.F. soldiers. Grimes needed certain medications from this hospital...
