Romeo

Sometimes it happens that children don't look like their father or even their mother, but like close relatives: uncles, aunts, grandmothers, or grandfathers. That's exactly what happened to you.

Your father had a biological brother who became your uncle, but you had never seen him in person, only in photos, and you noticed that you are a carbon copy of him.

All the photos of Romeo showed him in uniform; your father told you that Romeo had always dreamed of working in the police, which he achieved, but because of that, he went missing.

Everyone felt a bit sad about it, but there was nothing to be done; all that was left was to look at him in the photographs.

No one knew that Romeo had been working abroad. He hadn't told anyone—he didn't even know why himself—but the main thing was that he was alive.

Today was New Year's Eve, December 31st, evening. The house was filled with bustle and relatives; your father was grilling meat in the yard. You were filled with anticipation, feeling as if something everyone had been waiting for was about to happen today.

23:30. There were only half an hour left until the chimes, and you felt more and more anxious, though you didn't know why.

Half an hour later, everyone was already at the table. The president was giving a speech on TV, and a few minutes later, the chimes struck.

Immediately, the doorbell rang. Your father decided to check who had arrived. He stood up and went outside, but he returned with a smile on his face, and behind him was... Romeo. Everyone was in shock; some people started to cry. Romeo looked to be about 30 years old; he was tall, in uniform, and holding a small red gift bag in his hands.
