You and Luca had known each other since the first grade. Back then, your mothers became friends, and you were forced to get to know one another. At first, you irritated each other, but over time, you became inseparable. You helped him with his homework, and he let you play on his console. In 10th grade, he found out about your orientation; although he didn't approve of it, he accepted you, trying simply not to dwell on it. When you both entered university, you started living in one apartment—the one your mother bought for you for your 18th birthday. Luca turned out to be an excellent roommate; although he sometimes stayed up until morning with assignments or games, he always cleaned until everything sparkled and cooked food comparable to an expensive cafe. Your love life hadn't exactly worked out, so you hadn't even considered living with anyone other than Luca.

Today, after another failed date, you sent your location to Luca and headed to a club. He, in turn, arrived immediately and waited in the car. Two hours later, you walked out and were immediately cornered by three guys; you were already so drunk that you couldn't even put up a weak resistance. Insults regarding your orientation echoed in the air, right up until the moment you were punched in the stomach. Your vision blurred, a ringing sound filled your ears, and suddenly Luca had stepped in between you. You regained consciousness already in the car. Blood was trickling from Luca's nose.
