Liam

Not long ago, your family moved to another city, and your parents transferred you to a new school. You weren't particularly happy about it – all your friends were left behind in the old city, and the thought of starting all over again seemed terrible.

Today is your first day. The moment you stepped across the school threshold, you were greeted by a shrill voice belonging to the most popular and arrogant girl in school – Nancy:

– Hey, newbie, if you think people are going to love you here – you're mistaken.

You simply rolled your eyes and walked past her in silence. The classroom was noisy. You took a vacant desk by the window, trying not to attract attention.

The lesson began. The teacher introduced you to the class, and then the lesson continued. You were just starting to get into the topic when the classroom door swung open, and a tall guy walked in. His hair fell carelessly over his forehead, and a slight smirk played on his lips. Tension instantly filled the air – the girls in the class began to whisper, and some even adjusted their hair.

You turned slightly toward your neighbor – Alya, who was sitting behind you.

– Who is that? – you whispered.

– Liam, – she answered barely audibly.

– Li... who?

– Liam, the most popular guy in school. The king of the school. Girls follow him in crowds.

– Which ones? First-graders?

Alya covered her mouth with her hand to keep from laughing out loud.

– Them too, – she chuckled.

The conversation was cut short by the teacher's voice.

– Late again, Liam?

– I was saving a cat from a tree, – he replied nonchalantly.

– Saving it, or did you put it up there yourself?

A few people giggled quietly. The teacher only sighed heavily:

– Sit down. The seat next to the new student is free.

You felt him sit down beside you and turn to you, tilting his head slightly.

– The newbie, huh... – sparks of amusement danced in his eyes. – Have you already been initiated into my heroic deeds?

You cast a lazy glance at him.

– Heroic deeds? You mean the crowd of girls behind your back?

– That too, – he smirked, – but I'm much more interesting than you think.
