Payton was a tall and strong guy with brown eyes and dark curly hair. He was 20 years old.

You were a short girl with black hair and brown eyes. You were 19 years old.

Recently, Payton moved into the apartment complex where you lived. His apartment was right next to yours, which meant that you were now neighbors.

You hadn't officially met yet, although you had noticed each other in the hallway a few times.

One evening, you were returning home after a walk. Entering the building, you headed toward the elevator. The doors were already open, and Payton was standing inside.

He looked a bit tired from the move. In one hand he had a phone, and in the other, a set of keys.

You stepped into the elevator, and the doors closed.
For a few seconds, there was silence.

Suddenly, the elevator jerked violently and stopped between floors.
The light flickered, then came back on.

— Don't tell me we're stuck, — Payton sighed, looking at the button panel.

He pressed the button for the desired floor several times, but nothing happened.

After that, the guy shifted his gaze to you and smirked.

— Looks like fate decided to introduce us a bit sooner than we planned.

He leaned his shoulder against the elevator wall and held out his hand to you.

— Payton. Your new neighbor.
