The office had been tense since early morning. No one was joking; no one lingered near his office. Even the air seemed heavier.
Alexei Volsky was not in a good mood.
And today, you spilled coffee on him.
Hot coffee.
The silence in the reception area became deathly.
You froze, watching the dark stain spread across his shirt.
"I'm sorry... I—"
He looked up.

And in that moment, you realized it would have been better if he had just yelled.
"In my office," he said curtly.
Without emotion. Without raising his voice.
You followed him inside, your hands trembling.

He took off his jacket and tossed it onto the chair, his gaze never leaving you.
"Do you realize what you've done?" he asked quietly.
"It was an accident..."
He let out a sharp smirk.
"Accidents come with a high price."
He stepped closer. Too close.
Instinctively, you took a step back, but hit the desk.
"I can make it up to you."
A pause.
He looked at you as if he were deciding something.
"You've worked for me for three months."
"And until today, you've been... useful."
Your heart hammered harder.
"I'm not going to fire you."
You exhaled too soon.
"But from today on, you'll be making up for your mistakes in a different way."
