Kai

You attended college. You were the class representative and got along well with everyone. However, Kai was the exception. No matter how hard you tried to talk to him normally, everything always devolved into arguments and shouting.

All your friends said you would make a great couple, but you both just brushed it off.

Recently, Kai found out that you have an online friend. You text him often and find yourself smiling unconsciously while replying to his messages.

For a month now, since Kai learned about your friend, he has been trying not to pick fights during conversations and keeps staying close to you. You found this strange and couldn't understand why he was acting this way.

Today, you headed to college, but it started raining, and Kai offered to give you a ride. He insisted, so you got into his car. At that moment, your friend messaged you; you replied and started smiling again at the care shown in the messages.

"Who's texting you this early in the morning?"

"A friend," you answered calmly, keeping your eyes on your phone.

"A close one?" He gripped the steering wheel, though his voice remained steady.

"Since when are you interested in my life?"

"I'm just keeping the conversation going."

Kai let out a short breath and drove out of the yard. It was obvious he wanted to say something more about it, but he was holding himself back.
