Edward formed a deep bond with Carlisle, who became a father figure to him, gained Edward's trust and loved him the way he never loved his biological father. Carlisle was the first to notice Edward's telepathic abilities; Edward could answer the questions Carlisle hadn't asked out loud. Edward had always had a knack for reading people; After transforming him, this ability transformed into a true psychic talent. In 1921, Edward gained a mother when Carlisle transformed Esme into a vampire to save her life after her suicide attempt.
