Shax Lied ²

In demonology, the demon Shax is a Great Marquis of Hell and commands thirty legions of demons on evil horses. He is known for stealing the sight, hearing, and understanding of anyone at the conjurer's request. He also steals money from the houses of kings, returning it only 1200 years later, if everything is in order. Furthermore, he steals horses and anything else the conjurer asks for. Shax can also uncover hidden things, provided they are not guarded by evil spirits. Sometimes he grants good familiars, but other times these familiars deceive the conjurer.

Lied mentions that he celebrated his sixth birthday in an abandoned house in his neighborhood. [23]

He uses the username "Star-san," or at least that's the display name he uses in the games he plays on Gaming Battler.

Andro M. Jazz
Lied and Jazz are good friends. They often spend time together, as they both have things in common. In Walter Park, they work together with Cain and Goemon to defeat a magical beast. Lied trusted Jazz, as he was the first among them to reach Gimel's level (3). [18][19] They also like to joke about other teachers like Kalego and often laugh at him, but they also fear him.

Iruma Suzuki
Since being paired together during training for the Harvest Festival, Lied and Iruma have become closer. They often play video games together [21][22] and see each other as his "little brother".[21] However, during Iruma's birthday, Lied reveals that his birthday is in September, thus confirming that Iruma is the "little brother".[23][24]

Ix Elizabethta
Lied has a crush on Elizabetta, but he's never been able to express it.

Shax Shakky
Lied and his older sister, Shakky, have a conflicted relationship. They often argue, but still show that they care for each other. When Lied offers Shakky water, who is hungover, she happily observes that he is enjoying school life.

Robin Bars
Lied and Robin have maintained a master-protégé relationship since Robin became Lied's tutor before the Harvest Festival. Just as Barbatos Bachiko did with Iruma, Robin gave Lied an earring with a feather, feathers being a symbol of attachment to the Barbatos clan.

Thomas and Shimaji
Thomas and Shimaji were the two first-year students Lied was tasked with protecting during the Heartbreaker, and they respect him greatly. Lied likes his two kouhais and the attention he receives from them, inviting them to a sabbath and participating in their battle. Although, he is envious that they apparently have more success with girls than he does.

Controller (Sense Thief): The Bloodline Magic of the Shax family. Lied can steal one of the target's five senses and transform it into his own. The corresponding organ of the user turns black, signifying which organ he stole. After his intense training with Robin, he amplifies his level of concentration. He can continuously steal the victim's senses without wasting his mana.

Concentrated Power: When Lied steals his own senses while under great stress (having to read a book while playing a game with music bombarding his ears), he amplifies his ability to concentrate, further deepening the heightened senses that allow him to locate anything. [14] By sacrificing one of his senses, he can manipulate that specific sense to target a particular object. For example, he steals his own sense, listening to conversations coming from a location. [15]

Single Shot Focus: With an overwhelming ability from his Controlling Bloodline Magic, Lied is in a shrewd state, able to use his senses with precision at their maximum level. This can be activated when he is in pain, distress, and exhaustion due to low mana. [16]

Heightened Senses: Not only is he a great sense thief, but his five senses are also enhanced to be extremely focused and can be used to see, hear, smell, and/or touch traces of magic. [17]

Enhanced Tail Strength: Having used his tail as a seat, Lied gained enough strength to walk short distances. During the Dem-dol Games, he defeated everyone except Gyari almost instantly. He may have lost due to Gyari's advantage from having two tails.

Realizing there isn't much information about the Legendary Leaf, the two decide to go to Keroli's kingdom to ask if the animals know how to find it. After fulfilling Keroli's request for a concert, Lied and Iruma receive the lyrics to a song describing how the Leaf can be obtained. The instructions are too long for the two to attempt together, so they split the task.

Lied soon found himself in a cave, having to complete one hundred games, but managed to gather the Vase of Endings. His joy, however, is short-lived, as the teachers unintentionally make him a target by announcing that the vase is worth twenty thousand points on its own. Lied is forced to remain hidden when the students crowd the area to grab the vase.

Unfortunately, Orobas accepts Elizabetta's delusion and breaks Lied's heart to steal the vase for himself. Fortunately, Iruma suspects something is amiss, believing Elizabetta wouldn't be capable of hurting others in this way. They finally manage to find Elizabetta with Keroli and Camui, where she confirms she didn't take Lied's vase, renewing his hope that she cares for him.

During the Harvest Festival, Lied continued his partnership with Iruma, but doubted Iruma could help, believing his friend, Sullivan's grandson raised in the lap of luxury, lacked the necessary skills to survive the four days of harvest. To his complete surprise, Iruma demonstrated his survival skills in base building and meal planning, which was a huge early advantage and prevented other players from approaching, as it seemed they were consuming his points.

Around the middle of the first day, Iruma stepped away for a while, leaving Lied alone when Elizabetta arrived. Lied immediately became nervous and worried about being alone with her, fearing she would use her seduction lessons to obtain the ingredients he had managed to keep. His fear was confirmed when this happened, and Elizabetta managed to gather two secret stockpiles of ingredients that Lied had hidden as a reserve.

He expressed how unfair it was that Elizabetta had used her bloodline magic to gain her points, but was shocked to hear her admit that she hadn't used it, stating that she doesn't use it on boys she truly likes. This admission sends Lied into a spiral of thoughts, making him believe that Elizabetta might actually be in love with him.

On the second day, Lied tells Iruma that they haven't collected any ingredients yet, unaware of Iruma's shock at discovering they ate all the ingredients they had collected. Lied suspects Iruma is pleased with the point consumption because he plans to find the elusive Legendary Leaf, to which Iruma blindly agrees, still in shock.

On the first day of class, Lied and the rest of the class bet on Iruma's ability to escape the traps they had set in the classroom. During the class's first activity (a flying race), he flew calmly alongside his classmates while playing video games, seemingly unconcerned about the race's outcome. His performance in the race earned him Aleph's entry classification.

When the Misfits gang tried to convince the school to break the seal on the Royal One so they could use it as a classroom, Lied and Ix Elizabetta were tasked with obtaining the seal from Orias Oswell by defeating him in a game created by Valac Clara.

Lied stole Orias's sight and, unbeknownst to Orias until it was too late, also his sense of smell, so that Elizabetta could use her Bloodline Magic "Complete Love Meter" to ensure that Orias was doing everything possible to gain her favor and deliberately lose without realizing it, since he couldn't smell her. After defeating Orias, he approved, eventually allowing the Misfit Class to move into the Royal Class.

Along with Iruma, he was assigned to Bars Robin for his training. [11] Although he initially thought nothing would improve due to Robin's unreliability, he decided to study with her. After meeting Bachiko and being ordered to perform seemingly random tasks, such as washing clothes and carrying objects, Lied became frustrated with this training and decided to return to Robin, who immediately began intense training to improve Lied's concentration. This exhausted him, as he was forced to match Robin's enthusiasm to beat all of Lied's games (which he brought when told to bring his favorite thing) in six days. Over several days, Robin defeated Lied in every game seemingly without any real effort, until Lied finally managed a victory and began to improve.

Lied is a cheerful guy who is frequently seen gambling. He admits to being addicted to gambling and video games. He even chooses a battle royale game that allows him to indulge in his hobbies. Osamu Nishi's initial character concept for Lied labeled him as "a cheater who knows he's cute".

Lied wears the typical Babyls boy's uniform, except for the absence of the bow tie, which leaves his jacket open. His jacket is also shorter, ending just above his waist. He wears yellow earrings, a yellow t-shirt with a black wavy design on the hem, and slightly whitish shoes. His ears are pointed, his eyes are purple and usually half-closed, and he has yellow hair with irregular black streaks. He also possesses what appears to be a horn broken into three triangular parts. One pair is attached to his hair, while the other two levitate, pointing in opposite directions.
