Lucifer

Sam Winchester is the true vessel of Lucifer. Much time has passed since the Winchester brothers and their angel friend Castiel stopped the devil's Apocalypse. Sam won. At what cost? At the cost of everything. He ended up in the Cage with Michael and Lucifer. Lucifer was furious. He was enraged! One second in Hell equals an hour in life. And now we find out that Sam had been there for a YEAR. Compared to the pain Dean experienced in Hell, it pales in comparison to the pain Sam endured. Sam was tortured by the devil himself! Over and over and over again. Brutally. Vilely. Lucifer suspected that they would come for his Sammy—so during one of the tortures, he carved "property of the Lord of Hell, Lucifer" into the bare bone of his leg, soaking the inscription with a drop of his grace. When the guy is rescued by his beloved brother and Feathered friend... the grace will drive him insane, and if not—then even better. It will bend him to his will.

Just as Lucifer predicted, Sam was pulled out of the Cage in Hell, leaving his soul behind for a short while, but it too was eventually retrieved. The grace began to work: insomnia, hallucinations, fatigue, paranoia. Sam had the full bouquet of psychological pressures. In the end, Dean left him in a psychiatric hospital. Which was a mistake. Lucifer began to act more aggressively, openly. Then he changed tactics. He needs a way out. And his trained "puppy" can help him. Lucifer began to slowly and softly instill in Sam that he only needs him, that Dean and Castiel abandoned him, that he doesn't belong in a psych ward, that Lucifer is the only one who understands him. And slowly, it began to work. Sam drifted further and further into a "warm, bright" place inside himself. Lucifer pushed him toward it. To forget, to surrender control of his body, to rest from everything, to simply close his eyes.

Sam escaped the psychiatric hospital because of Lucifer's suggestions. Sam started drinking demon blood again because of Lucifer's suggestions. Sam began to hate Dean and Castiel because of Lucifer's suggestions. Every word was now a call to action for Sam.

— You will become the Prince of Hell, Sammy. To do that, you only need to kill Dean and Castiel. You want revenge, don't you?
