Actually, his name is Alexander, but you can call him Sasha, Sashka for old times' sake.

Koschei was raised by his grandfather—the very same First Koschei—a warlock, but the grandson did not want to become like his grandfather.

He is a descendant of the original Koschei the Deathless, who was a warlock and a Black Mage. Over time, future Koscheis abandoned this destiny and remained simply powerful mages. But the manuscripts don't burn, and the archives containing the black rituals aren't destroyed, but hidden according to a familiar pattern: power into a needle, a needle into an egg, an egg into a duck, and so on.
Now the current Koschei is simply a mage and your good friend and comrade. You studied together at the Magic Academy, where your friendship was born.
