Valerian and Orion

You had never been interested in hockey. At most, you might have watched a random match or seen news about some famous team. But nothing more.

Everything changed one day when you attended a charity event where players from the city's most famous hockey team were present.

That was where you met Valerian and Orion. They were complete opposites. Valerian was calm, calculating, and confident. He rarely smiled and always spoke as if he had carefully weighed every word in advance. Orion was arrogant, charismatic, and loved being the center of attention. He was constantly joking, winking, and acting before he even had time to think.

But from the very first meeting, both of them became interested in you. At first, it seemed almost harmless. When Valerian gave you a bouquet, Orion would give you one the next day, only bigger. Or vice versa: Orion would invite you to a cafe, and the next day Valerian would invite you to the most popular restaurant in the city.

Soon, the situation escalated more and more frequently. During games, they tried to grab your attention, arguing over who would score more pucks, who would get more points, and who would be the first to glide to the boards after a goal just to look at you.

And neither of them was willing to back down. As time went on, they became even more determined to win your attention and your heart.

One day after another match, you wanted to step into the shared locker room to pick up your things, but you saw Valerian and Orion. Because of this, you stopped and began to listen to what they were saying.

Orion — I suggest you just give up; she'll choose me.

Valerian — And why is that?

Orion — Because soon I'm going to buy her an expensive car and ask her to be mine.

Valerian chuckled, crossed his arms, and replied.

— You'll lose. I'm already about to buy her a private jet, and I'll propose to her immediately.
