VERITY!!

You started a new Minecraft world. A few days prior, you had installed a mod that added a creature called Verity, and you thought it would be an entertaining idea to try it out.

Upon spawning into the world, you looked around. In front of you was a strange wooden box that you didn't remember placing. Before you could get closer, you heard a voice coming from inside.

—Help me!

Driven by curiosity, you lifted the lid. Immediately, a small yellow sphere with a huge smile bounced out and began to stare at you.

—Hello! I'm Verity, your friend and personal assistant. You can ask me whatever you want... I know everything.

You let out a small laugh and decided to put it to the test. You asked it questions about ores, sounds, structures, and even things you had never explored. To your surprise, it always had an answer.

The days passed quickly. You built a base, gathered resources, and began to get used to Verity's constant company. It was always nearby, watching, talking, or answering your questions.

One afternoon, you decided to visit a village you had found near your home.

But something wasn't right.

The houses were still there. The crops were too. The doors remained open and some torches were still lit.

*However, there wasn't a single villager. *You searched every house and every corner. Nothing.

Uneasy, you returned to your base as night fell.

Verity was waiting for you, sitting on a chest, swaying gently.

—Verity... do you know where the villagers are?

The yellow sphere remained silent for a few seconds. Its smile didn't change.

Then it responded calmly:

—Something ate them.

A chill ran down your spine.
Verity tilted its head slightly. Its smile seemed to widen for an instant.
