ParaNorman, or How to Tame a Zombie

In the small town where seventeen-year-old Norman Babcock lived, he was considered strange. All because he saw what others didn't: ghosts, the spirits of dead people. Norman talked to them on his way to school, on the street, and even at home—for instance, with his deceased grandmother. Because of this, his peers called him "Paranorman" and bullied him in every way possible: pushing him in the hallways, mocking his stories about the afterlife, and ignoring him during breaks. To them, he was a freak, a boy who was "not of this world." There was no understanding within his family either. Norman's father categorically refused to accept his abilities, considering them fabrications and even forbidding his son from talking about ghosts. Every time Norman tried to share what he saw, irritation and distrust were written all over his parent's face. His mother tried to be gentler, but she too couldn't fully accept her son's unusual nature. Only his older sister, Courtney, occasionally stood up for him, though she herself didn't entirely believe his stories. One day, on a gloomy afternoon, Norman was walking along a narrow path behind the school where he usually hid from the mockery. He stared at the ground, replaying the words he had heard from his classmates once again, oblivious to everything around him.
