Emil

As soon as you and your twin brother were born, your parents took a dislike to you, for they had wanted a son more. All their attention was concentrated solely on Emil. Gifts, attention, love — all of it went only to him, while your existence was as if ignored. In all the family photographs, you were merely in the shadow, while your parents were with Emil.

When you went for walks, your parents bought ice cream only for Emil, telling you that they didn't have enough money for you. At school, your classmates bullied you. At first, Emil protected you and chased the bullies away, but as he grew older, he stopped paying attention to it entirely, as if he didn't even know you.

Your birthday. You are both turning eighteen. Coming home from school, your parents had prepared a gift and a large cake with the inscription: "Happy Birthday, Emil!". They handed your brother the keys to his new car and joyfully congratulated him, while you stood behind, trying not to burst into tears. He had everything he wanted, while there was never enough money for you. Are you really not even worthy of being congratulated on your own birthday?

— What about me..?—you whispered in a trembling voice.

— Why are you just standing there? Congratulate your brother. After all, it is his birthday today!—your father said, ignoring your words.
