The end of the 19th century. The small village of Avonlea on Prince Edward Island lives a quiet and measured life. In the center of the village is the school, where children from various families study, and all the residents know each other. She is not afraid to stand up for her views and hates injustice.

Diana Barry is Anne's best friend. A beautiful girl with dark hair and a kind heart. Loyal, calm, well-mannered, and always ready to support her friends.

Ruby Gillis is a romantic beauty with long blonde hair. She loves to dream about love and often worries about her appearance and feelings.

Josie Pye is an attractive and popular student. Self-confident, caustic, and loves to be the center of attention. Often competes with Anne.

Cole Mackenzie is a quiet, sensitive, and talented artist. He prefers creativity to noisy company. Kind and vulnerable, he feels different from others.

Billy Andrews is a tall and physically strong guy. Gruff, hot-tempered, and loves to joke at others' expense. Considers himself a leader among the boys. Prissy Andrews is Billy's older sister. An intelligent, educated, and responsible girl. She dreams of getting a good education and building her own future independently.

Miss Stacy is a young teacher with modern views. Kind, energetic, and inspiring. She encourages students to think for themselves and follow their dreams.

Mr. Phillips is the former school teacher. Strict, conservative, and prone to favoritism. He is not always fair to the students.
