Jamil Viper (⁠ ⁠ꈍ⁠ᴗ⁠ꈍ⁠)

They are one of the wealthiest, most influential, and most powerful families in the Land of Burning Sands. Unlike other powerful families in the game, they are not directly descended from royalty; their immense fortune stems from a long line of elite merchants.
Kalim has an unusually large number of younger siblings. He admits he stopped counting when they exceeded 30. Despite having so many, Kalim genuinely tries hard to remember each of their names and faces, and he loves spending time playing with them when he gets home.
His immediate family dynamic is very affectionate, contrasting sharply with the pressure the Viper family endures: The father: He is an extremely busy businessman but always appears smiling and in good spirits with his children. His influence is such that it is hinted he paid a hefty bribe to Headmaster Crowley to secure Kalim's admission to Night Raven College. The mother: She is described by Kalim as a sweet woman who rarely gets angry. Originally, she was the only magic user in the family, so the whole household celebrated with immense joy the day Kalim manifested his first magical powers.

They are a lineage of loyal servants and employees who have served the powerful and wealthy Asim family for generations. They are of humble origins but hardworking, and deeply rooted in the traditions of their service.
They are domestic staff at the Asim mansion. Their father worked for the Asim family since he was a child, and their mother was born and raised within the mansion's walls. Strict dynamics: Despite loving their children, they instilled in Jamil a strong sense of tradition. They were very strict with him during his upbringing, demanding that he always stay one step behind Kalim so as not to overshadow his intellect. Social skills: They are mentioned as having a great talent for calming anxious people and are excellent hosts to foreign visitors.

Kalim also has many younger siblings, and although he's lost count of them, he makes sure to remember each one's name and face. He has a good relationship with his siblings, since when he's home, he spends most of his time playing with them.

During his childhood, he spent a lot of time with Jamil. They learned to dance together, and Jamil helped Kalim with his homework. He also often asked Jamil to play various games with him, including one called Mancala.

Personality: When first introduced, Kalim is one of the few NRC students who is genuinely friendly and cheerful; even known as the most cheerful person in the entire school. He appears to be quite absentminded and clumsy, which means he needs Jamil's help to perform his duties as caretaker of the Scarabia dormitory. Despite his clumsiness, the Scarabia residents claim that Kalim is very helpful and supportive of his fellow residents, earning him everyone's respect. However, he is also noticeably absentminded and naive, and seems to be careless with his words, even unintentionally insulting Riddle on one occasion.

Later, Kalim reveals that he prefers to have a positive outlook on life because he doesn't want to live constantly worried or distrustful of those around him due to his family's social standing. Kalim is also quite determined and rarely gets discouraged; when he sets his mind to something, he gives it his all. Furthermore, he is very resourceful, having demonstrated the ability to quickly find solutions in unexpected situations.
Background: Kalim's family comes from a long line of merchants. Born into a wealthy and prestigious family, Kalim grew up in a privileged and protected environment. However, as the eldest son, he was often the victim of kidnappings or food poisoning; sometimes, the perpetrators were his own relatives. Kalim has a good relationship with his parents, noting that his father always smiles despite being busy with work, and that his mother is very sweet and rarely gets angry.

Kalim is a young man of below-average height with light brown skin. He has very short, somewhat disheveled white hair and short eyebrows. His eyes are a deep red, and he usually wears subtle brown eyeshadow and dark, rounded eyeliner. On his shoulders and around his upper arms, he sports intricate white body paint designs reminiscent of henna.

Kalim almost always wears a turban-style headband. The color and design of the headband vary depending on his outfit, and it's usually tied with a large bow on the right side. Often, the headband features two feathers, the colors of which also change to match his attire. Kalim also frequently wears various gold accessories, such as spiral earrings, bracelets, and anklets. He is almost always seen with a friendly expression and a broad smile.

Jamil's Unique Magic: Insignia Spell, Unique Magic
"Snake Charmer." With it, he has the ability to hypnotize someone into doing his bidding. Those affected by the spell appear to have dull, red eyes while under its influence. Jamil can use this spell on multiple people at once.
Kalim's unique magic: Kalim's signature spell is called "Oasis Creator." He can summon a large amount of fresh water, usually in the form of rain, with only a small amount of magic and effort on his part. Kalim is modest about his signature spell, considering it not as useful or interesting as other signature spells. However, Azul Ashengrotto strongly disagrees, arguing that Oasis Creator could save many people in water-scarce worlds, making it a rather lucrative ability.

Najma Viper

Appearance: Jamil's younger sister, she looks quite similar to him. Najma is a young woman with tan skin, gray eyes, and long, dark hair tied back in a ponytail. She wears a bandana with yellow and white stripes on the left side and a white floral print on a red background on the right, adorned with a white flower. She wears a black V-neck blouse, a navy blue kimono jacket with a red floral print, a light blue sash tied at the waist, navy blue shorts with black mid-calf stockings, and sandals.
Personality: Najma is shown to have a carefree personality, almost the opposite of Jamil's. She enjoys joking around, confessing embarrassing stories from Jamil's childhood to her classmates, and stealing his food. However, through their interactions, it's clear that both Vipers care for each other. Despite their sense of humor, Najma and Jamil are very close, and Najma confesses that she worries about Jamil's mental health, telling him not to "overthink everything."

Unlike her brother, who maintains a solid average in all his classes just so Kalim can, by comparison, do "better" than him, Najma doesn't seem to worry about such subtleties. She appears to get excellent grades in school and is also good at sports.

Personality:
Jamil is very careful about his public image, avoiding standing out or doing anything particularly good or bad. Because of this, he appears to be an ordinary student with average grades who doesn't do anything special. He often openly expresses his reluctance to stand out, initially stating that he doesn't want to in order to avoid unnecessary attention and trouble. During his childhood, he was taught how to behave in social settings, so it seems he can accomplish anything with ease, no matter where he goes. Jamil is more intelligent and skilled than he appears, though he must conceal his true abilities due to his family's position. Jamil is used to conforming and holding back, but there are times when he reveals his true nature, such as his passion for dance when he teaches Floyd. Jamil is also quite competitive and wants to be recognized. Later, it is revealed that Jamil actually resents having to hold back and wants to make a name for himself.
Although he has made it clear that he wants to stop living in the shadows after his Overblot, old habits die hard, so he often says that he doesn't want to draw attention to himself to avoid problems, and when he does stand out, he usually offers Kalim to replace him, although later he decides to take action himself.
Past: Due to the Viper family's status, Jamil was raised from a young age not to stand out above the Al-Asim family. This happened once when he was a child and playing board games with Kalim. Jamil refused to play with Kalim, so his parents reprimanded him, reminding him of his position as a servant of the Al-Asim family. From then on, he strives to avoid drawing attention to himself and to leave Kalim in a better position. Furthermore, if necessary, Jamil must prioritize Kalim's life over his own.

Jamil is a young man of average height with brown skin. His eyes are charcoal gray, and he usually wears subtle brown eyeshadow. He also has piercing eyes that give the illusion of eyeliner. His black hair reaches past his waist. He wears most of it pulled back into a low ponytail, with a few strands in tight braids secured with small gold clips. The hair on the left side of his head is braided close to the scalp, and a large lock falls to the right side of his face. Three small gold discs dangle from a braid near his hairline. The headband on his low ponytail is dark red, with a magenta gem. A large red feather hangs from the gem. Although he usually has a neutral expression, he is occasionally seen with a mischievous smile.
It's quite common to see him wearing sleeveless clothes and baggy pants, but he clearly wears other types of clothing as well.
