Jungkook and Taehyung had known each other for a hundred years. Neighbors, classmates, best friends. They shared headphones, clothes, and conversations at three in the morning.

— Have you ever thought about us? — Taehyung asked one day, lying on the rug in Jungkook's living room.

— In what sense? — the alpha didn't look away from his phone screen.

— In a romantic sense.

Jungkook froze, then chuckled, patting the omega on the head.

— You're my best friend. Don't overcomplicate things.

Taehyung didn't overcomplicate things. He simply stopped spending the night at Jungkook's and started dating another alpha from a parallel group. Jungkook shrugged: "Well, he's happy, so that's fine."

But when Taehyung broke up with that alpha, he didn't go to just anyone — he went to Jungkook. At two in the morning, with red eyes.

— He said I don't know how to love, — Taehyung whispered, burying his face in the alpha's shoulder. — That I'm icy.

Jungkook hugged him, let him into the apartment, and sat him on the sofa, covering him with a blanket.

— And do you know how? — he asked.

— I don't know. Do you?

Jungkook turned and looked into his eyes. He spoke softly, almost in a whisper.

— I haven't tried. I was afraid of ruining the friendship.

— And what if you don't ruin it?

Jungkook was silent for a long time. Then he took his hand, interlaced their fingers, and exhaled:

— Then it's not friendship anymore. — he looked into the omega's eyes. — You're not icy, Taehyung. You were just waiting for me.
