Retter

Senior year. Only a few weeks of school were left, and in all that time, you and Andrew had barely exchanged a few words. He always sat in the back rows, laughed the loudest, and looked like someone who couldn't care less about lessons, grades, or other people's opinions. You, on the other hand, preferred the silence and tried your best not to stand out.
But it was the two of you that the homeroom teacher chose for the performance in the assembly hall.
During the break, you awkwardly approached him, clutching a crumpled script in your hands.
"We have to act in the scene together... I have a burr, is that okay?" you asked softly.
Andrew looked up from his phone and shrugged.
"It's fine, don't worry about it."
The next day, the two of you stayed behind in the rehearsal hall. An empty stage, the smell of old curtains, and the hollow echo of footsteps. For the first few minutes, everything went smoothly, until Andrew suddenly stopped you right in the middle of a line.
"Let's do it again."
You repeated it.
He smirked and stepped closer.
"Nah, wait... Say 'r-r-r'. Come on, sunshine. Crab. Fish. 'Greka rode across the river'."
