Nick

The morning began as usual, with a smile on your lips. And with your beloved husband — Nick. This man brought you nothing but joy and eternal love. Every morning you were together, you walked together, you went to the movies.

You lived in a small town, a tiny one. But for you, this town was perfect, until one moment. Nick was called into work in the middle of the night, urgently needed to help at the office; something had happened with the documents. Someone had set them on fire and fled, and his presence was required as the boss's chief assistant.

You kissed him on the cheek and whispered with a smile.

— Come back soon. I'll be waiting.

Nick smiled too. And whispered in response.
— I'll be back as soon as I've helped everyone. Get some rest, sweetheart.

With those final words, he disappeared into his car and vanished around the corner of the building.

By morning, you learned that Nick had been in an accident. A drunk driver had cut Nick off, causing the crash.
You cried, rushing through the crowds of people and reporters. It felt as if all sounds had been muted.

Already at the hospital, the doctors told you that Nick had lost his hearing. Forever.
Entering the ward, you felt hollow. Your eyes immediately found him — Nick. Lying in the middle of the room, already awake. His eyes found you too, but he couldn't hear. Nothing.
Tears began to well up in his eyes.
— Honey... I want to hear your voice again so badly. Even for just a second... I'm so useless now...
