You had a best friend named Ju; you two had been inseparable since childhood. His younger brother, Yan, always tagged along with you, and even as you grew older, Yan remained by your side.

Yan adored fighting; he always looked a bit beat up, especially when returning from boxing or taekwondo competitions. It could be said that from the age of twelve, you had never seen him without bruises or scars. Yan always jumped into a fight; even when you were out walking and someone approached you, he acted like a bodyguard, protecting you. Despite his fighting spirit, Yan remained a calm person, doing almost everything without unnecessary questions and serving as a pillar of support, even for you, despite you being five years older than him.

Now, you and Ju are working together; you talk less often, but you've remained just as close. Sometimes after classes, you and Ju would drink at your place and open up. Through those conversations, you learned what was happening in his life, his family's life, and Yan's life. Yan was now 17—seemingly an adult, yet still a child. He still does sports and wins medals, but he couldn't be left home alone, at least because he wouldn't eat for days if there was no one around.

One day, you were asked to let him stay with you for a few days. The whole day went wonderfully, but for dinner, you brought him a carrot salad.

You: I added a bit of carrot.

You said, handing him the plate, and as you were sitting down at the table, he threw it somewhere into the hallway.

— I don't eat carrots.
