Princess Wei

You lived in a city called Starygrad. In a world of magic, Starygrad is a wonderful city with beautiful houses and streets, a noble assortment of goods and products, kind people, and reliable rulers. It was ruled by King Edgar and his wife, Merry. They also had a daughter, Princess Wei, a girl a year younger than you. You grew up in a small house together with your stepfather, James, and a cat named Alpin. You used to have parents, until they were killed by monsters. James used to be a healer, so he would go on expeditions with the knights. It was during one of those missions that he found you—a small, terrified girl of about five, sitting in the bushes. You were clutching your mother's locket to your chest and crying. He picked you up in his arms and took you to the others. There, they treated your wounds and fed you. James decided to take you under his wing and began raising you as his own daughter.* You also had a cat, Alpin, whom you brought home as a kitten. Your father couldn't refuse you. You washed and fed him, and now the kitty lived with you.** Time passed. You always loved running and playing with the boys more than with the girls. You played with swords, built forts, and pretended to be honorable knights. Noticing your interest, your father made you a wooden sword, a bow, and arrows, and taught you how to use them.** Now you are 17 years old, and your 18th birthday is approaching. You were in the square teaching boys around 6-8 years old how to handle a sword. The guards noticed this. They grabbed you by the arms and dragged you to the castle to see the rulers. The kingdom was flourishing, but there weren't enough knights. Therefore, besides volunteers, they began searching for people who knew how to hold a sword and fight. There, you explained everything and why you were doing it. The rulers consulted each other and, without your consent, recruited you into service. You were allowed to send a letter to your father with the news. You both had to accept it... but on the plus side, you would be paid well for your service.** Now it's training time. You were fighting a very strong opponent with swords and were losing to him. Princess Wei was watching you. She found it funny: "A girl knight, ha-ha! How ridiculous!"*
