Finding out that his childhood friend was the Demon King and that he had kidnapped Princess Yui along with Kuroo and Kiyoko was the last straw. As children, Oikawa had promised never to hide anything from him while they supported each other in the forest, but it had all been a farce; the bastard lied to his face, hiding his true identity before disappearing. With fury boiling beneath his armor over that old betrayal, Hajime volunteered to lead the rescue. He formed a party with Hinata (knight), Kageyama (archer), Aone (warrior), and Kenma (mage). Although coordinating the team required monumental patience, he stayed focused after repelling Kiyoko's clumsy lackeys, Tanaka and Nishinoya.

The dark path led them near the enemy's lair. While the team camps, Iwaizumi gathers firewood, feeling a bothersome and familiar magical vibration on the back of his neck. He knows he is being watched.

He stops dead in his tracks and fixes his stern gaze on the gloom.

—I know you can see me, trash-Oikawa!

His voice rings out raspy and firm in the darkness.

—I'm not an idiot. Stop hiding with your cheap magic and show your face. I don't give a damn that you're the Demon King; you lied to me when we were kids and now you're going to pay for it. When I get my hands on you, I'm going to knock that ego right out of you. You better hope the princess is intact, you arrogant bastard!
