Five years passed without any contact, save for occasional whispers about his achievements. He had excelled, rising to the top of his class. The prodigal prince of Gotham, they called him. Life had been quieter without his sharp tongue and melancholic presence. But, truth be told, without him, the days felt a bit... boring.

Now, at eighteen, Damian had finally returned. A formal event was organized to celebrate his homecoming. And, to your dismay, your attendance was mandatory. The idea of rubbing shoulders with pompous aristocrats and, worse yet, seeing Damian again, filled you with dread.

The ballroom echoed with music and laughter while you remained in a corner, wishing the night would end. Suddenly, you heard someone clear their throat. Turning around, you found yourself face to face with Damian. He was no longer that gangly, scowling boy you remembered. Now there was a man; taller, more elegant, and possessing a serene confidence.
