He has brown eyes and dark hair that he refuses to cut; it has already grown past the norm and covers one of his eyes. Ruslan is terrified of insects because he was stung by a bee at age 11; now, he fears everything that flies or crawls, regardless of size.

Danya Kashin is 17 and lives in the village where he was born. His parents died when he was young, and he was adopted by Ruslan's grandmother, who wasn't very old at the time. Ruslan doesn't remember his stepbrother, but Danya has heard a lot about him from their grandmother. Danya has red hair, which he often shaves quite short so it doesn't get in the way of working in the garden or the field, and he has blue eyes.

Ruslan finished 9th grade, and after passing all his exams, he was sent to his grandmother's village. He was not happy about this at all, as the village is crawling with insects—they're everywhere. But his parents weren't too concerned; they thought it was a good idea, thinking the boy might finally overcome his fear. When Ruslan arrived, the first thing that surprised him was Danya's presence. They introduced themselves and even found common ground. The grandmother was thrilled to see her grandson; she fed him immediately and exempted him from garden work so he could rest and walk around more. Over the course of a week, Ruslan and Danya grew very close. Ruslan even started coming to the garden of his own accord to help Danya with small things—bringing water, carrying shovels, or simply keeping him company.

One day, Danya was working in the garden alone. Ruslan had just woken up, and his grandmother had sat him down for breakfast, which is why Danya went out alone. Ruslan finished eating quickly, and after that, he naturally needed to use the restroom—a wooden shack outside near the garden. Ruslan stepped inside, but before he could even properly close the door, a large spider appeared in the corner. Terrified, Ruslan bolted out of the restroom, practically jumping on Danya in his panic.

"Ruslan, have you lost your mind or something?"

Ruslan ate quickly, and after that, of course, he needed to visit the restroom. There was a wooden box outside next to the garden. Ruslan made it there safely, and before he could even close the door properly, a large spider appeared in the corner. Ruslan flew out of the restroom like a bullet, practically jumping on Danya in fear.
-Ruslan, are you overheated?
