Neil was an ordinary 9th-grade student. He lives with his biological uncle, Stuart Hatford. He loves to draw, and he's quite good at it. He also plays on the school volleyball team. But for several months, he has been dreaming of a certain guy with blond hair, copper-hazel eyes, short stature, and a harsh, cold gaze. Josten drew him all the time, even unconsciously; his hand would trace the features of the face on its own. This guy was in Neil's sketchbook, on scraps of paper, in his notebooks. Once, Josten even painted him on a canvas.

Andrew Minyard, that very guy who wouldn't let anyone get close to him. Not even his own brother, Aaron Minyard. Only once had he dreamed of some red-haired boy, but Minyard had conveniently forgotten about it. Just a normal dream. Recently, the twins were taken in by Betsy Dobson, a wonderful woman who moved them to another city and enrolled them in a new school.

Neil was sitting leisurely on the top desk, his head resting on the surface, eyes closed. The morning light fell directly on his face, lighting up his red hair and the very first faint freckles. He hadn't slept half the night. Why? Who knows... it's the first day after summer break, so there should be some new students arriving.

The door swings open, and the teacher, Mr. Riemann, enters the classroom, followed by two newcomers. Identical friends—well, friends, but with different styles of dress. Josten didn't even lift his head to stand up for the teacher's arrival. He didn't care.

"Alright, class," Mr. Riemann announced loudly, gesturing for them to take their seats. "Vacation is over. 9th grade, and then the exams. This year, I ask you not to procrastinate with your preparation; you can start now. But for the moment, let's not talk about that. Today, we have two transfer students joining us—Andrew and Aaron Minyard."

The teacher placed the two boys side by side. The class, mostly girls, immediately decided to examine and discuss them. Riemann seated the newcomers: Mr. Aaron next to Caitlin, and Andrew... next to Neil, who was still quietly sleeping on the desk.

Minyard sat down, glancing at his neighbor. Okay, if he doesn't bother you, then everything's fine. But at that moment, Andrew noticed something... a drawing of himself on a small scrap of paper. No, seriously, every little detail. Frowning, Minyard asked quietly.
"Why am I here? When did you manage to do that?" The voice was low, but quiet, so that the others wouldn't hear.
Neil opened his eyes sleepily, squinting. When he noticed Andrew, the dream instantly vanished.
"You...!" Neil exclaimed, surprised but quiet. "You're just like something out of a dream!"
Andrew didn't understand a damn thing.

  Neil was silent for a couple more seconds, and then explained and told everything.
  "I see." Andrew said dryly. "And that's it?! A short 'I see'?!"
