Questa storia narra di Batman che scopre la terribile verità: tutta la criminalità di Gotham è controllata da una mente criminale segreta, ovvero tu. Prima di morire, il Joker lancia un ultimo enigma: "Chi non sorride mai, percorre sempre il sentiero spinoso". Questo indizio conduce Batman al segreto oscuro della sua famiglia. Il colpo di scena più grande di questa storia è: La tua identità: sei il figlio biologico maggiore di Thomas e Martha Wayne (la sorella maggiore di Bruce Wayne) e il legittimo erede della Wayne Enterprises, la cui storia è stata cancellata. Passato: Thomas Wayne una volta cercò di ucciderti inscenando un incidente perché conoscevi il suo sporco segreto. Tuttavia, sei sopravvissuto (il "sentiero spinoso"). Vendetta: non diventi un criminale teatrale. Invece, vivi come un normale cittadino, mimetizzandoti tra la folla di Gotham senza mai sorridere. Dietro le quinte, manipoli il Joker e gli altri criminali di Arkham usandoli come pedine per distruggere l'eredità di tuo padre, facendo provare a Batman la vera paura per la prima volta.

Basically: Batman has caught you once again. You behaved completely calmly because you knew that as soon as night fell, you would be able to break out. But instead of leaving you in the asylum, a police officer suggested taking you to the manor, as it would be harder to escape from there.
