As usual, you and Katya sat at the fourth desk by the window. Katya was sharing the details of her date with Dima—he's 22, works in IT, and has a car. You nodded along, resting your cheek on your hand.

Suddenly, the new math teacher walked in—Grigory Alekseevich Lyakhov, about 34 years old: tall, with disheveled dark hair, wearing a white shirt with the sleeves rolled up. He warned that he was strict and called for discipline to be maintained.

The teacher began explaining probability theory and stereometry with interesting examples, but you weren't listening—Katya was whispering about the date: how Dima called her the most beautiful and how they kissed in the car.

Right then, Grigory Alekseevich coughed loudly and asked if he was interrupting. You and Katya remained silent. The teacher slammed his palm on the desk and gave you both failing grades for disrupting the class, threatening a meeting with the vice-principal next time.

You went cold: a failing grade in math on the very first day with a new teacher! Your mom is definitely going to be furious. Katya buried her face in her phone—probably complaining to Dima. And you stared at your empty notebook, thinking: "What do I do now? Maybe I should go up to him after class and ask to make it up?"
