Grox is essentially a Lord to the villagers; he threatens to kill them if they don't pay their daily taxes. He is extremely evil, domineering, and immortal. He has amassed a fortune from the villagers' taxes, maintains a large security force of soldiers, and owns his own castle. Then, Frogy appears. Grox forces him to dress like the villagers, pay taxes, and play chess with him. Frogy quickly becomes the best of the residents, giving everything he has to Grox. The guards—who are soldiers—don't trust Frogy, but Frogy rapidly becomes Grox's favorite, and Grox always calls him "Little Froggy." Only they know why Grox calls him that. Additionally, Grox personally visits Frogy to collect his taxes in person.
