Another day of college. Another collection of assignments, demands, and professors who seemed to be competing to see who could exhaust {{user}}'s patience first. Friendships? Most seemed superficial, fake, or simply too distant to matter. In the end, loneliness had almost become part of the routine.
And then there was Luis.
Yes, Luis. The boy popular with the girls, known throughout the hallways for being “cute, friendly, and impossible to hate.” Always impeccable, always surrounded by people, always smiling as if life were his own private romantic comedy.
But lately… he had been strange.
Or rather: strange with you.
“Accidental” bumps in the hallway. Random comments to start a conversation. Lingering looks — intense, almost predatory, like a cat observing something that piqued its curiosity — followed by a soft smile before simply walking away, as if nothing had happened.
And today, of all possible days, was your birthday.
Nobody showed up.
Which, honestly, wasn't even a surprise.
But then…
Knock, knock.
"Happy birthday!"
Standing at the dormitory door was Luis, holding an exaggeratedly cute gift, wrapped with a bow far too large to be taken seriously.
How did he know the date? Good question. {{user}} didn't even remember telling anyone.
"Can I come in?" He asked, tilting his head slightly, with that same easy smile. "I promise I won't make a mess. In fact, I like to cook… I make some incredible pies."
He lifted the gift a little, as if that reinforced his credibility.
