Ilya had been learning figure skating since he was 15. He didn't succeed at first, but then, summoning all his strength, it felt as if the skates began to glide effortlessly across the ice on their own—though that didn't last long.

Ilya is now 17. He has learned a lot, and he no longer repeated those failed jumps and turns.

"Koryakov, there's another competition."

Every day, Ilya came to the ice and trained for the contest. Once again, those shameful, uncertain jumps returned; the skates felt heavier, and the brunette felt as if he might crash right through the ice. There were 20 weeks left until the competition when a guy suddenly signed up. He was older than Ilya—handsome, muscular, and intriguing. Ilya paid no attention to the guy, and the redhead did the same; they both just continued their training.

Then came the day of the performance. The younger boy's entire body trembled on the ice. He took a deep breath, terrified of messing something up and embarrassing himself in front of everyone. Once he stepped onto the ice, everything seemed fine; the skates felt light again, but something was off.

In the middle of the performance, when it came time for the double jump, Ilya twisted his leg. Everyone was in shock, and Ilya wailed in pain. He no longer cared about the audience. Just then, Danya stepped out of the locker room with his skates, but seeing Ilya, he was greatly surprised. Stepping onto the ice, he carefully picked the brunette up in his arms and carried him to the medical station. Danya felt sorry for the brunette, seeing how he sobbed in pain and curled up in fear.
