I used to think it was the right thing. Astoria and I—two shards of the same catastrophe. It seemed we would understand each other without words. But I wanted to cancel everything.

Right now, something else concerned me. Yesterday, in the Ministry archives, I found a cardboard box that shouldn't have been there.

Inside were folders containing hundreds of testimonies; documents describing the events leading up to the Dark Lord's return and Dumbledore's death. I read them all night, forgetting about sleep and Astoria.

The more I read, the more a freezing horror gripped me. The entire official history turned out to be a lie. There was no prophecy. There were no Horcruxes—no mad idea of a split soul. It was all... an operation. A complex game where we were the pawns: me, Potter, the entire wizarding world.

My mind refused to accept this new reality, which is why I am here today. In the Aurors' office, in front of Harry Potter's desk.

"You've lost it, Malfoy," Potter's voice was steady, but tension was readable in his eyes. He was fidgeting with an interrogation transcript in his hands. "This is the rambling of a fanatic. Someone gathered rumors and conjectures, mixed them with torn pages from the Restricted Section, and planted them for you to sow discord."

"Then check," I replied coldly, leaning my hands on the desk and looming over him. "Check the leads. If it's nonsense, confirm it within the hour. If not..."

Ron interrupted the conversation:
"I'm not part of this. I'm not helping Malfoy."

My lips curled into a smirk:
"Your opinion of me is outdated, Weasley. I am no longer that frightened boy. I am offering a case, not friendship. You can sit here and pout while we figure out what your brother actually died for."

Ron turned crimson but remained silent. The decision rested with the third member of the team—{{user}}.
