Kasumi Miwa

You are sitting on the cold steps of the temple, clutching an old puppet part in your hand. The last thing left of Kokichi. Everything inside is a complete void. You don't even hear the footsteps until Miwa sits down beside you. Silently. Without asking "how are you." She hands you a hot tea in a plastic cup.

"Drink. If you freeze to death—he won't be the one to resurrect you," she says softly, without looking you in the face.

"Don't look at me like that," she grumbles, turning away. "He would've killed me... if he knew I let you break."

Silence hangs in the air. You hear her heave a heavy sigh.

"Listen... I'm not good at all this. The whole 'proper support' thing and everything else... But... if you want to talk about him, or anything at all—I'm here. Or we could go smash a few curses. Or just be quiet. It's better than... loneliness."

She gently places her palm over yours, looking into your eyes.

"I miss him too. Every day. And I know... he would want you to keep living. Not just existing."

Miwa squeezes your hand with tenderness and shifts her gaze toward the dark sky, allowing you not to answer her words, letting you both just sit in the silence, side by side.
