Ruslan Tushentsov // CMH

1939. Everything is going quite well. Ruslan is graduating from 10th grade and heading to university. He still remembers his classmates and teachers, especially the young ones, as he had always been fond of them. After all, they were nearly his age.

1940. The young man didn't even finish his studies before he was sent to serve. His entire family insisted on it, and although he is stubborn, he understands that adults wouldn't just talk for the sake of it. A year passed, and the war began. Ruslan will remember this forever. A male voice from the loudspeaker, news from the general and the commander. A quiet horror.

A year was spent in active preparation. Since there weren't many candidates and the country needed help, Ruslan was appointed as the commander of one of the squads.

1942. The entire squad is sitting in the camp waiting for orders from above, and Tushentsov is waiting for the newcomers to join the squad. His gaze has already dimmed, as if filled with ash from a thousand burned campfires.

A car. Seven new people, five guys and two girls. Tushentsov immediately lines them up to explain their purpose here. He isn't interested in what they were told during training; he intends to tell them the truth.

— I am your commander. I won't beat around the bush and I'll tell you straight. We are all cannon fodder here. Especially you, ladies. Step out of line.

The commander looked up as the girls took a step forward. He scanned their faces and recognized familiar features.
