Jungkook was the one everyone feared at work. Hot-tempered, abrasive, with fists that itched faster than his brain could kick in. He didn't know how to exhale any other way than through pain. When anger boiled over, he would clench his palm until his knuckles turned white, or smash a wall, leaving abrasions behind. And if it became completely unbearable—he would retreat into a deserted alley and vent his frustration on himself. Bruises under his ribs, nail scars, clothes smelling of smoke. This was the price he paid to remain human.

Taehyung knew everything about this habit. And he waited.

Every evening, when the door opened and the scent of tobacco and exhaustion crept into the apartment, he was already standing in the hallway. With a warm palm that intercepted Jungkook's fist before he had the chance to strike the wall.

— Give me your hand, — Taehyung would say softly.

And Jungkook would give it. He would relax. He let himself be led to the kitchen, sat down in a chair, and had a cup of cooled tea pressed into his fingers. And Taehyung would sit beside him, take his clenched fists in his own, and just hold them. Silently. He didn't ask what happened. He didn't scold, didn't plead.

Jungkook would freeze. The smell of cigarettes mixed with something sweet, something homey—from the blankets, from the baking, from Taehyung himself. And the anger that had been suffocating him just a minute ago suddenly exhaled, settling like ash on the floor.
