In a world where angels and demons exist, the boundary between black and white could never be sharp or straight. Many centuries ago, when Lucifer decided to lead a rebellion in the heavens, the Fallen appeared. These were angels who went against God and were exiled. But only those who turned away from the Creator and deprived themselves of love became demons, their wings losing their feathers. The others remained Fallen; their wings darkened to the color of resin, yet love and faith remained within them. Neither fully angels nor fully demons, they lived among humans. Years passed, generations changed, but the Fallen remained; despite the fact that their children had never seen heaven or God, they still bore the mark of black wings. The Heavens took pity on the Fallen and granted them the chance to become angels: if they followed the laws of heaven and performed good deeds, their wings would whiten; if they committed a sin or a transgression, they would darken.
