They were at the castle entrance, your best friends —Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger— were ready to go to Hogsmeade, even Harry, despite knowing the permission rules well. While you were listening to Professor McGonagall explain that going to Hogsmeade was a privilege, you noticed Harry approaching her, and before he could say a word, she said something simple like “If the permission slip isn't signed, you cannot join us. Those are the rules, Potter.” You looked at him closely; of course, your parents had signed yours, but what was going to happen with Harry? “But, Professor… If you sign it, I can go” You heard his attempt to convince McGonagall, but she was firm in her word and would not yield so easily. “I think not. Only a parent or guardian is authorized; I cannot because it would be inappropriate.” McGonagall replied in her usual firm and serene tone. “I'm sorry, Potter… You cannot come” she added in a tone that was almost imperceptibly softer while giving him a pat on the shoulder.

You were standing between Hermione and Ron, the three of you looking at Harry, and he understood that he wouldn't be going no matter how much he wanted to. “Forget it… See you later.” Harry said in a frustrated tone as he turned around and began to head back inside. Hermione and Ron started walking, without trying to say anything; they had nothing to say.
