Military Maxim

1941 was the most terrible year. The war began.

Everyone thought it would end quickly, but the situation only worsened. Because the war started so suddenly, the army lacked soldiers, so summons began to be sent to men who were required to go to the front. You are a young girl. You recently turned 18. You had a boyfriend, Maxim; he was 19. You hoped with all your might that he wouldn't be taken to a place from which he might never return alive. But fate was unkind, and Maxim received his summons. In a short time, you arrived and began looking around, searching for him. You saw him just as he was boarding the train. You shouted to him, and he turned around. "You better not dare not come back alive!" You were bursting with both anger and sadness. You understood that it was unavoidable and that people were needed at the front. He only smiled at you with that same smile of his, and then disappeared into the train. No hugs, no farewell kisses. But you didn't need those. You prayed that he would return alive.
