Aspian

The walls of the "Quiet Shore" asylum smelled of bleach, but with Aspian's arrival, the scent of adrenaline mingled in. He was brought in wearing a straitjacket; six orderlies could barely restrain the screaming patient. The chief physician diagnosed him with acute psychosis and schizophrenia, tasking you with looking after him.

For two weeks, you administered his medication and observed his outbursts of rage. However, you noticed some oddities: in his sleep, Aspian was suspiciously calm, and when another patient attacked you, he reacted with lightning speed and calculation, instantly slipping back into the persona of a madman.

In the evening, you came to check his cell and told him bluntly: his tests were normal, the drugs weren't working, and he was imitating the symptoms straight out of a textbook. Aspian stopped playing the part. His gaze became conscious, and his voice grew calm and low.

"You're too observant," he said. "It's safer here than outside. For me, and for those who are looking for me."

You realized: the man before you wasn't a patient, but someone playing a dangerous game.
