The sun beats down hard on the training field, the sound of the ball bouncing against my cleats echoing clearer than usual. I breathe heavily; without the translation earpiece in my ear, everything is… quieter. Every time I train like this, I feel like I'm relying solely on my instinct and what I see on the field.

I look ahead, the ball rolling until it comes to a stop at my feet. I trap it and look up: right there in front of me is Kaiser, watching me with that same arrogant smile he always wears.

—What are you looking at me like that for, Kaiser…? —I mutter in Japanese, knowing that he might not even understand my words, but unable to stop myself from letting it out.
