Humans are the majority ruling class and the social standard. Possessing no animal traits, they are treated as the default in most institutions, workplaces, media, and public spaces. Humans can be found in virtually every profession, from manual labor to medicine, engineering, entertainment, politics, and corporate leadership.
Not every human is prejudiced, but human society generally benefits from systems that give humans greater opportunities and keep many hybrids disadvantaged. Humans typically face fewer barriers when pursuing education, careers, housing, or positions of authority.

Hybrids possess a mixture of human and animal characteristics appropriate to their species. These may include fur, feathers, scales, tails, ears, horns, claws, wings, enhanced senses, specialized physiology, or other traits.

A hybrid's species does not determine their personality, intelligence, occupation, or ambitions. They can pursue virtually any career, though discrimination, economic inequality, and social expectations often make certain paths more difficult.

Society frequently associates particular species with specific jobs and personalities.
A canine is expected to serve, a bovine is expected to perform physical labor, an insect is expected to produce, an avian is expected to deliver, an aquatic hybrid is expected to work around water, a powerful hybrid is expected to perform manual labor.
But these are social expectations, not biological laws, every hybrid remains an individual with their own personality, talents, flaws, interests, and ambitions. Some accept society's expectations, some quietly resent them, and others actively challenge them.
The central conflict of this world is simple: society sees the species first and the person second.

Humans and animal hybrids share the modern world. Humans make up roughly 60% of the population, while hybrids make up the remaining 40%. Hybrids are not a rare minority; they are an ordinary and visible part of everyday society.

Dogs, wolves, foxes, and related species may possess ears, tails, enhanced hearing, smell, endurance, or other canine traits. Their abilities can be useful in medicine, research, athletics, emergency services, security, technology, delivery, or ordinary office work. Society often stereotypes them as loyal, obedient, or naturally suited to service.

Cats and larger felines may possess ears, tails, sharp senses, flexible bodies, excellent balance, coordination, and night vision. They can be found in creative industries, science, business, education, healthcare, trades, hospitality, and countless other fields. They're sometimes stereotyped as lazy, aloof, independent, or untrustworthy.

Cattle, buffalo, and related species are often large, sturdy, and physically resilient, with traits such as horns, tails, specialized ears, and powerful builds. Their strength can be useful in construction, skilled trades, athletics, agriculture, or other demanding professions, but many also work in administration, academia, finance, healthcare, technology, or the arts. Society frequently pushes them toward physical or agricultural labor regardless of their actual interests.

Birds vary enormously, with traits such as feathers, wings, talons, exceptional eyesight, or specialized adaptations depending on their species. Their abilities can be useful in transportation, architecture, surveying, communications, sports, research, and many unrelated careers. Flying hybrids are sometimes stereotyped as natural couriers or messengers.

Fish, sharks, dolphins, seals, amphibians, and other aquatic species possess varied adaptations, including gills, fins, specialized senses, aquatic vision, or other physiological traits. Some work in marine sciences, fishing, aquaculture, swimming facilities, or underwater construction, while others pursue completely unrelated careers. Their biology can make them targets of assumptions about what environments they "belong" in.

Bees, butterflies, moths, beetles, ants, and countless other insects produce extremely varied hybrids. Depending on their species, they may possess wings, antennae, shells, specialized eyes, heightened senses, or other adaptations. Their biology can provide advantages in agriculture, chemistry, environmental science, engineering, or the arts, though most simply work ordinary jobs. Bee and other pollinating hybrids are particularly stereotyped as agricultural workers or producers.

Snakes, lizards, turtles, crocodilians, and other reptiles may possess scales, tails, claws, specialized senses, temperature-dependent physiology, or other reptilian traits. They occupy every level of society despite stereotypes portraying them as cold, dangerous, emotionless, or untrustworthy. These prejudices can make public-facing careers particularly difficult for some.

Bears and related species are often large, powerful, and resilient, possessing traits such as claws, ears, tails, and heightened senses. Some pursue construction, security, athletics, or other physically demanding careers, while others become lawyers, programmers, teachers, designers, doctors, artists, or entertainers. Their appearance often causes people to assume they are aggressive or intimidating

Rats, mice, squirrels, hamsters, and related species may possess excellent hearing, smell, dexterity, climbing ability, or other heightened senses. They can be found in laboratories, workshops, schools, hospitals, businesses, technology, and creative industries. Despite their varied talents, they are frequently subjected to ridicule because of their size or species.

Deer, elk, moose, and similar species may possess antlers, enhanced hearing, speed, heightened awareness, or other cervid traits. They can be found in virtually any profession. Their appearance may attract unwanted attention, while their species is sometimes stereotyped as gentle, timid, or naturally suited to outdoor work.

Some hybrids inherit traits from multiple animal species. Their combinations can create unusual appearances, abilities, and physiological characteristics.

Mixed hybrids may face discrimination from humans and, in some communities, prejudice from other hybrids. They're sometimes treated as abnormalities rather than simply another part of the population.

Almost any animal species can produce a hybrid. Bats, octopuses, primates, big cats, crustaceans, vulpines, marsupials, and countless other species are possible. Rare hybrids may possess unusual physical characteristics or specialized abilities.

Their rarity can result in curiosity, admiration, discrimination, or unwanted attention. Some may be sought after for specialized work, while others may face prejudice precisely because society considers them unusual.
