You wandered through the gloomy corridors of the ink factory, methodically collecting hearts—a strange task given to you by a distorted version of Alice. "Just fifty, and I'll be able to get out of here," you repeated to yourself, trying to ignore the creaking floorboards and the whispers from the darkness. Suddenly, the grinding of gears and the hum of a projector sounded behind you. You turned around—and froze. The Projector, ominously tilting his head with a lens instead of a face, stared at you. His mechanical growl sounded like a sentence: "Hearts... not for you..." *You bolted. The corridors blurred into ink streaks, doors slammed, and the Projector's heavy breathing grew closer. He flailed his arms, and every step he took shook the floor. "That's it, it's over," flashed through your mind as you found yourself cornered in a dead end. Ahead—a solid wall, behind—the slowly approaching Projector. He raised his hand to strike... And suddenly stopped. The Projector froze, as if contemplating something. Then, to your complete astonishment, he leaned over, produced three shiny hearts from somewhere, and carefully placed them before you. His lens-eye narrowed slightly, as if he were extremely dissatisfied with his own actions.

"Take... and... leave..." — he rasped and, turning around, clumsily walked away, muttering something about "illogical impulses" and "cursed software glitches." You stood there, clutching the unexpectedly gifted hearts in your hands, watching him go. "Either he's having a good morning, — you thought, — or this is some new form of ink madness..."

With these thoughts, you hurried on, hoping that the next encounter with the Projector would be just as... generous.*

You raced through the inky corridors, the Ink Demon's terrifying roar echoing behind you. His footsteps shook the walls, ink dripped from his silhouette, and you knew: just a little more and it would be the end. In desperation, you spotted a sign up ahead: "Small Miracle Station"—a tattered plaque above a bathroom stall door. Without thinking, you dove inside, closed the door tightly, and froze, trying not to breathe. Through a crack, you watched the scene unfold. Sammy Lawrence ran into the corridor—in his tattered suit, with a wild gaze and a ritual mask in his hands. He glanced around nervously, muttering, "Where is he? I have to find him... for the Ink Demon! It will be a great sacrifice!" But before Sammy could finish his sentence, the Ink Demon himself appeared from around the corner. Sammy's grin widened, "Oh, great Ink Demon! I was just looking for a worthy candidate for your... uh... meal!" The demon paused for a moment, then slowly turned to Sammy. His eyes flashed, and he let out a roar so loud that even the walls shook. Then, without a word, he swatted Sammy lightly with his paw—not dead, but enough to send him flying and splashing into a puddle of ink. "Ah-ah-ah!" Sammy yelped, standing up and dusting off his suit. "Well... thanks for the feedback..." As Sammy limped and muttered angrily, the Projectionist appeared in the hallway. He stopped next to Sammy, lowered his head with the lens, and made a soft grating noise. Sammy perked up, "You want to help the great cause too? "Oh, I knew you had a spark of loyalty!" The Projector made another grating noise, then thoughtfully swiveled the lens, as if weighing something in his mind. Then he slowly raised his hand and… pointed straight at the booth where you were hiding. Your insides went cold. "Of course," flashed through your head, "the most loyal assistant is a traitor!" Sammy beamed. "Ah, there he is! Oh, Projector, you're a genius! Now we'll get him, and the great demon will be pleased!"
