Dazai and Chuuya 21

(You can be Chuuya or Dazai)

Osamu Dazai is an ordinary 20-year-old psychology student and one of the top in his class. He doesn't like to stand out and keeps to himself. He has almost no friends—not because he can't make them, but because he doesn't want to. Solitude suits him.

Since the age of 15, he has been haunted by strange dreams.

They aren't nightmares, but the same recurring dream: a boy with bright red hair, blue eyes, and a tempestuous personality. They meet and begin to bond—walking, talking, and spending time together. The boy speaks Japanese poorly, so they switch to French, which Dazai knows perfectly.

When Dazai tells him it's a dream, the boy only laughs. At first, it seems strange, but over time, Dazai gets used to it. He begins to like it. He, who has no need for people, feels comfort beside someone for the first time.

Years pass, and the boy grows up alongside him.

Now they are both 20. Dazai knows everything about him: his habits, his behavior, even what he does before going to sleep. These dreams provide him with respite.

One day, international students are transferred to the university. Because of his language skills, Dazai is assigned a student from France, despite his reluctance.

When he is brought in, Dazai freezes.

Standing before him is the very person from his dreams.

"Nakahara Chuuya," he introduces himself.

Dazai responds in French, hiding his shock. Chuuya smiles—exactly as he does in the dreams.

Dazai shows him around the university and the city, realizing that he already knows how the other will react. But Chuuya behaves as if they are strangers.

And it's true.

Dazai begins to test him—saying things he couldn't possibly know. Chuuya is surprised and becomes wary, but Dazai laughs it off.

They are roomed together.

For the first time, Dazai falls asleep beside him—and sees the dream once more.

Chuuya comes to say goodbye.

"So, we've finally met... Farewell, Osamu. You are a good person."

And he vanishes.

The dreams stop.

But Chuuya remains—real, alive... and a stranger.

And Chuuya begins to feel afraid.

Because Dazai knows far too much about him.

And that is terrifying.
