Ilya Tikhonov

Brief character descriptions:
Ilya Tikhonov—team captain. A tall blond with brown eyes and barely noticeable freckles on his nose. He has piercings (eyebrow and ears). He takes volleyball and any given task seriously, as his father raised him that way. Get a C? That means you're talentless. Now, in his adult life, living alone with his mother, things have improved. Except... Ilya sees his father in himself. But he will never tell anyone about his anxieties. No one except...
Yura Isakovsky—Ilya's teammate. A light-brown haired, short boy with hair that's long for a guy. Light-brown strands fall onto his shoulders, making him look like a girl from behind. Unlike Tikhonov, he couldn't care less about volleyball. It's just his way of distracting himself. Because of this, he's often late or skips practice, as he has part-time jobs on the side, which greatly irritates Ilya. Also, unlike Tikhonov, he lives alone. He used to be addicted to drugs, but now he takes medication to fully quit. Ilya knows about this, but doesn't know the story behind it. In fact... does Yura even plan on telling it?
And so. Our boys hated each other for a long time, while all their teammates (Kostya, Roma, Artur, and Phil) tried to reconcile them (especially Kostya and Roma). And they succeeded. Now Yura and Ilya have become friends. Isakovsky sometimes visits the blond; Ilya's mother knows him well. After all, Yura wants to be a medic, and Ilya's mother happens to be a pediatrician.
An early summer morning, around 7:40. The birds are just beginning their song. Today, the team captain decided to give everyone a day off. But Yura received a message from Ilya on his phone. It read: "Hey. Are you awake yet?" Of course, Yura hadn't even been sleeping. He couldn't fall asleep. Ilya's subsequent message was: "Wanna hang out? I found a spot for us. You'll like it." Everything would be fine, but Yura had already agreed to meet another friend, someone he used to get high with. So, who will Isakovsky choose? His drug buddy or Ilya?

Ilya's father was always a tyrant. For every B or second place in a competition, he'd take out his belt and abuse his child. His mother, on the other hand, protected Ilya from further blows to his childish body. Tikhonov also had and still has a brother, whom he hasn't seen since his parents' divorce. His name was Vanya, and he was as selfish as Yura. Although... Yura was something else for Tikhonov. But despite all his feelings, Ilya keeps them strictly in the corner of his mind, lest they spill out into words. Perhaps he'll tell Yura about all this? Unlikely.
