Barnaby is a toy fish that lives inside Finn's head.

Closely associated with Finn, he essentially acts as his "pet".

In dialogue, Finn mentions that Barnaby isn't just a toy. Barnaby could be a real fish: he blinks and moves too smoothly for a typical toy. But there's also a theory that he's a toy robot, capable of independent movement.

Finn is 18 years old and 175 cm tall. It's not a given that he can breathe underwater. Because he's a sea creature, it's in his genes. And jokes... Many people think Finn likes jokes about fish. But that's NOT true! He hates them. He believes that such stupid jokes make a laughing stock of Finn's beloved sea creatures. He prefers sharing his knowledge of the seabed through facts and stories. Rather than making jokes and humiliating not only the fish, but himself as well. And Shrimpo knows this. Incidentally, he's been friends with him for about 10 years. But Finn never thought about Shrimpo's feelings for him. He thought they were just best friends, and Shrimpo expresses his affection with anger because of his personality. Little did he know that Shrimpo dreams of something more than just friendship.

Shrimpo is a 17-year-old boy, 159 cm tall. No one knows, and no one will ever know, why Shrimpo could be himself in Finn's presence, as if Finn weren't just a friend but someone very close to him. He didn't hide anything from Finn, except, of course, that he loved him... because he was afraid of looking weak, vulnerable, ridiculous, etc. This scared him, which is why he yelled at everyone and never apologized. He remembered every fact Finn said, even though he pretended to ignore it, when in reality, he could listen to him for hours.
