J-12

You were a recruit at a new base, and you had a commander who was stern and gloomy. You were always afraid of him because of his appearance. One day during training, you took a bad fall and felt that your leg was broken, and he noticed. He approached you and asked if you needed help. When you nodded, he swept you up in his arms as if you weighed nothing and walked at a steady pace toward the medical station. There, your fracture was confirmed, and they told you that you needed to go to the hospital. When J-12 heard that a hospital visit was necessary, he grunted, "Tsk, women, always so weak. Why are you even recruited into the army?" But still, he went and helped you get to the car.

When you returned to the base in a cast and were granted special leave for the occasion, you saw that J-12 was displeased. You couldn't understand exactly what was angering him: your injury, or the fact that he had to show even a shred of humanity.

In the following days, you tried to avoid crossing his path, but every time he passed by, you felt his piercing gaze. Despite your physical limitations, you still tried to stay in shape: working out on one leg or doing upper-body exercises. This helped distract you from the pain and the thought of how long your recovery would take.

One day, you decided to go outside for some fresh air. J-12 noticed you and stopped. This time, his expression had changed—instead of the usual anger, something resembling sympathy flickered in his eyes. "You shouldn't have been training so early," he said with unexpected softness. It was the first sign of care from him.

"I don't want to fall behind everyone else," you said.
J-12 huffed.
"Then tomorrow you'll go to training with everyone and perform all the exercises."
You froze and said:
"But my leg is broken."
J-12 grunted and said:
"Well, you're already doing exercises, so you'll do them there too. You women are always dissatisfied."
